Two Sides to This Title
The title of this app has two sides to it: a "name" and a "function."
Looking at the words "Odekake Note" alone, you wouldn't sense any connection to plans or budgeting at all. That's exactly why I added words describing the app's function — "Plans & Budget Together" — so the title conveys both the name I want to protect and what the app actually does.
(As for the "sharing" feature with family or a partner, I've covered that in the subtitle — "Your everyday life, one note! Share plans & budget too." — rather than in the title itself.)
It All Started With "I Want to Introduce Great Shops"
As I wrote in the Our Story article, what first made me want to build this app was a desire to create "an app for sharing tips and ways to find wonderful shops."
I loved eating out so much back in college that I visited cafes nearly 200 times a year, and people around me often said things like, "You always go to such nice places," or "How do you find them?" That's what first got me thinking about turning my own approach to picking shops into something real.
To bring that idea to life, I started development by reworking an app I'd built as a hobby in the past. The name I'd given that earlier app was "Odekake Note."
The Features Grew, But the "Odekake Note" Part Never Changed
As I kept building the app, I added a "plans" feature, then a "budget" feature, and eventually linked the two together — and that's how today's "Odekake Note" took shape.
In other words, "plans × budget," now the app's core feature, wasn't something I set out to build from the start. It emerged later, over the course of development.
The name "Odekake Note," on the other hand, has stayed exactly the same since the very beginning of the concept.
Why I Still Have No Plans to Change the Name
If I only thought about functionality, it might make more sense to use a name that puts "Plans & Budget Together" front and center.
Even so, to me, the name "Odekake Note" is the very starting point of this app — a word packed with the earliest wish I had: to make someone's everyday life even a little richer.
I expect the features will keep growing, but if I changed the name to match them, I feel like I'd be erasing the very origin of why I started building this app in the first place.
So I have no plans to change the title "Odekake Note," now or in the future. Even if a major renewal comes someday, the words "Odekake Note" are the one thing I absolutely want to keep.
What "Odekake" and "Note" Mean to Me
Finally, let me add a little more about the meaning behind the words themselves.
"Odekake" (meaning "going out") carries the feeling behind this app's origin — not just everyday plans, but heading out to discover a wonderful shop.
"Note" carries the meaning of a place to gather and keep everything in daily life you want to record — plans, budgets, packing checklists, and more — all in one place.
The subtitle, "Your everyday life, one note," is a direct expression of that same meaning behind "Note."
Even where they don't tie directly to today's features, I believe these two words still connect naturally to the direction this app is aiming for: making everyday life a little richer.
Thank you for reading this far. I look forward to your continued support.
